Lenovo announced its first Googlebook on September 28, and the company is aiming it at professionals and business owners. Before you decide whether it deserves a spot on your equipment list, here are the facts from Lenovo’s announcement.

The spec sheet

  • Price and timing: Available from October 4, 2026, starting at $1,099.99. Lenovo notes that prices may exclude tax and shipping and that reseller prices can differ.
  • Screen: 15.3-inch OLED touchscreen at 2880 × 1800, with a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Processor and memory: Intel Core Ultra 5 325, with 16GB or 32GB of memory and 256GB or 512GB of storage.
  • Weight: Starting at 1.29 kg (under 3 pounds), which Lenovo says is the lightest 15-inch device it sells.
  • Battery: 70Wh, rated at 12.5+ hours. Lenovo says that figure comes from lab testing and real-world results will vary.
  • Ports and wireless: Two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-A, HDMI 2.0, an audio jack, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
  • Sign-in and privacy: Fingerprint reader, facial authentication and a physical camera shutter.
  • Operating system: Googlebook OS.

The AI features

Gemini is built in. Lenovo highlights Magic Pointer, which lets you wiggle the cursor to call up Gemini for tasks such as turning two images into a poster or adding an event to the calendar. A dictation key, called Rambler, turns spoken ideas into formatted text and strips out filler words. The laptop can also sync with Android phones. Lenovo’s footnotes say these features need an internet connection, are available in select languages and to adults 18 and over, and that Gemini’s answers should be checked.

Eligible buyers who purchase and activate a Googlebook on or after October 1, 2026 get 12 months of Google AI Pro, which Lenovo says includes expanded Gemini access and 5 TB of cloud storage. The offer covers eight countries, including the U.S. and Canada, and must be redeemed by March 31, 2027. After the trial it renews at $19.99 a month, or the then-current price, unless you cancel.

What this means for your company’s next laptop purchase

Use this as a short checklist before putting any new device in front of your team:

  • Test your must-have software. Googlebook OS is new, so confirm the apps and websites your staff rely on work well before buying in volume. A single pilot unit is a low-cost way to find out.
  • Ask how it will be managed and secured. Make sure your IT provider can enforce updates, strong sign-in and lost-device protections on it, just as for your other machines.
  • Put the subscription on your calendar. Note when the free trial ends, who owns the account and whether you actually want the paid plan.
  • Decide what data AI tools may touch. Set a simple rule for what employees can and cannot enter into an AI assistant.
